Sam has been with Janome for nine years but he has been sewing for the past thirty-nine. Prior to joining Janome, Sam had his own custom sewing business in Texas where he designed and made wedding gowns, bridesmaids dresses, home décor, costumes, hats and pretty much anything that can be sewn. He has taught sewing to both children and adults – from beginning to advanced techniques.
He also spends time volunteering in the summer, teaching Girls Scout troops sewing so they can earn their Textile Badge. Sam loves all sewing related gadgets and probably has every notion ever made, some still in their original packaging. When Sam is teaching a class or talking to fellow sewists, it is evident that he is passionate about sewing and teaching it to others.

Improvisational Free Form Piecing
Length: 6hr. Class
Skill Level: All Levels
Take a break from the traditional quilting and come and try free form piecing.
We will be piecing without “pre-determined” sizes. You will have the freedom of cutting your pieces to the size that you want at the spur of the moment. This will also be your one of a kind quilt. There are no patterns involved and no real planning involved. You just need to have an open mind and a creative spirit. If you have never tried this way of modern quilting, come and see how simple it is. We will also be piecing some gentle curves.
Students will need to each bring cutting mats, quilting ruler, and rotary cutter with a sharp blade. They should also bring the basic sewing supplies (listed below).
Each student will need to bring a flannel backed table cloth from the dollar store to use as a design wall. Students can bring a piece of batting, but just know that we will be drawing on it. It is free form which means there is no traditional pattern for the design.
For this class the instructor will provide kits necessary for making the project at an additional $20 paid directly to Sam in class.
